I want to give many many thanks to The Fit Train for nominating me for the Blogger Recognition Award. This award is an award given to bloggers by bloggers to show appreciation for the effort that has been put into their up and coming blogs. Those of you who don't blog may not realize, as I didn't until I started, that blogging isn't as simple as one might think and can be like a job. In order to be successful you have to put a lot of time into your blog. Writing posts can be very time consuming and taking the time to share on your social media to get the word out there keeps me busy.
Who is The Fit Train?
The Fit Train is a blog ran by a blogger named Jessica. She is a personal trainer who has a chronic illness and blogs about that to let others with chronic illness know they aren't alone. You can check out her blog here.
Why did I start blogging?
I originally started blogging just to write down about my experiences in life and what I was going through. At the time I had 3 young kids that I had had all within 2.5 years and the youngest was having a lot of health problems. My older 2 were having minor problems and it was a lot to take in. I started blogging to get my emotions out and write about what was going on. That was back in 2013 and up until recently it wasn't much more than that and writing just small things every so often.
My Advice to new Bloggers
1. Be prepared to put a lot of time into it. Don't go in thinking it's all easy and quick, because it isn't. You have to take time to think about your posts, write them, and then lots of sharing on social media.
2. Find out who your audience is. Once you do stick to writing things that you know they will want to read. If you are in the medical community and in a lot of social media groups for it, consider writing about that. if you are in a lot of mommy groups, consider writing about parenting or something along those lines.
3. Write about things you know. It allows you to really write from the heart and be able to put experience into it. If you try to write about something you know little to nothing about or something you don't enjoy it isn't going to come out good and it won't be sincere.
4. Use your time wisely. When I have some free time I try to write up posts for a few days and schedule them, that way if I get busy I still will have a post posted for that day. If you have ideas write them down before you lose them. You can schedule your posts to be posted then go later in the day when you have time and share on social media and do your emails and everything else you might do.
