Favorite Places to eat at Hollywood Studios

This week we are featuring all of the best/favorite places to eat at Hollywood Studios sorted by type of restaurant. We will start with the quick service.

1. ABC Commissary- This is a place I eat at every time I come to Hollywood Studios. It is located in Commissary Lane where you can eat lunch and dinner amid an Art Deco theme. At dinner time you can order, get a pager and find a seat and dinner will be brought to you when it is ready. You can also use the My Disney Experience app and order ahead of time. Try some steak, chicken, salmon and more.

2. Backlot Express- This restaurant is located on Echo Lake. If you love Star Wars this is the restaurant for you. Enjoy a Royal Guard burger, Galactic Chicken Salad, or Dark Side chicken and waffles. Lots to choose from. Cupcakes are great!!

3. Rosie's All-American Cafe-  This American restaurant is located on Sunset Boulevard. Try American favorites like cheeseburgers, coleslaw, fries, chicken nuggets, and more. Kids meals are available. Try some nice strawberry shortcake for dessert or drink an alcoholic beverage.

Now we will discuss some of the favorite table service restaurants. If you want to eat and relax a little try one of these restaurants.

1. 50's Prime Time Cafe- As you might guess by the name this restaurant, located on Echo Lake, is themed to the 50's. Enjoy some home-cooking like pot roast, fried chicken, lasagna, and more. Kids options and desserts are also available. While you eat you can watch clips from popular shows circa 1955. Kids can enjoy “electric ice cubes” or glowing Disney Character lights while adults can enjoy some classic cocktails. Reservations are recommended.

2. The Hollywood Brown Derby- This is one of the most popular restaurants in the whole Disney World Resort. This restaurant, located on Hollywood Boulevard, is an authentic replica of the Brown Derby restaurant in Hollywood. Charactures of famous faces line the walls. Enjoy pork chops, seasonal grouper, grilled filet of beef with a white truffle and mushroom mashed potato, and the famous Brown Derby Cobb salad. Don't forget to check out the dessert Trio. You can also get reserved seating at Fantasmic or dine with an Imagineer in special packages. Reservations are highly recommended.

3. Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant-This is another 50's style restaurant, this time themed to a drive in. Sit at a car-shaped booth or table and enjoy Sci-fi movie clips as you eat. The ceiling is a sky full of twinkling stars even! At the back there are picnic tables and a concession stand. Start off with some fried pickles. Then for your main course eat some ribs, New York strip steak, Reuben Sandwich, vegetarian sandwich and much more.

Now last is character dining. There is only 1 option for character dining at Hollywood Studios. Hollywood & Vine offers a breakfast buffet where you get to meet Disney Junior characters. They also have seasonal dining parties with Minnie and friends. Kids and their families get to eat and play with friends from Doc McStuffins, Sofia the First, Jake and the Never Land Pirates, and Handy Manny. Enjoy some Mickey waffles, made-to-order omelets, pastries, frittatas and fresh fruit. There is also an ice cream sundae station! The Minnie and friends lunch and dinners are available during the Halloween and Christmas seasons.

I hope this helps you to choose some places to eat on your next trip to Hollywood Studios.

How was your Christmas?

Hello, everyone!! I hope you all had a great Christmas, as we did. The kids were super spoiled by everyone and got way more than they needed. I loved getting to spend time with family. We went to my one grandma's on Christmas Eve. We hadn't seen her in a few months, so that was great. She has been really lonely lately so she really enjoyed us and the kids being there. Christmas morning the kids didn't wake up until 9:30 so we got lucky there (guess that will happen when they have trouble sleeping and keep staying up until midnight!). They opened all of their gifts here, got ready for the day, and had time to play with their new toys. We then went to my grandma's where my mom, dad, and brother were also there. We opened all of our gifts, played and talked and had dinner. We then went to my husband's aunts where the kids played, we ate more, and we sang some karaoke. It was a LOT of fun, some new Christmas traditions as well. We came home and got the kids into bed after a long crazy day.

So, what did we get? The kids got a lot of clothes which is always needed. The girls are really into their American Girl dolls right now, so they got a lot of clothes for their dolls, which made them very happy. My 7 year old daughter got a game called Ultra Dash, which is a relay game. This has been keeping them all very active, and I am hoping they continue loving it. My 6 year old daughter got a make your own lip gloss set, she is my girly girl. My 5 year old son got cars, a Cars 3 set (as did my 2 year old son), a Batman flyer, a Paw patrol tower, and his favorite a remote controlled car. He got one that matches the one his best friend has, and he couldn't be happier. My 2 year old on the other had wishes he didn't have it, as he is terrified of remote control cars. He got some Mickey Mouse items, dinosaurs, blankets. The girls got Magic 8 balls, walkie-talkies. They love everything they got. My hubby gave me a ring. It was our original engagement ring that I haven't been able to wear in years after having a kid or 2. He got it resized and cleaned for me and I LOVE it. My parents got us a Keurig which we are in love with. We have been wanting one, but just couldn't justify shelling out the money for one at the time. My husband is really happy with it, and I think he will end up using it more than me.

Now Christmas is over, and I will be spending the last few days of the year at work. I work today, tomorrow, Thursday. I am off Friday so we will be running errands, paying bills, making sure we have everything we need, especially going into a holiday weekend where I will be working. I work Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. I am really hoping on New Year's Eve I make it home before midnight to be with my family. I get off at 11, but we have to wait for the next shift to come in and give report and make sure all paperwork is done and then I have a 20-30 minute drive home.

So, how was your Christmas? Did you or your kids get any special gift you/they are really excited about? Any engagements? Pregnancy announcements? Disney or other trip surprises? What are your plans for New Years?

Merry Christmas!

I am not doing a big post today. I just want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I hope you all have a great day. Be safe if you are traveling. I would LOVE to see everyone's pictures in the comments of your amazing day.

Favorite Places to eat at Disney World Resorts

This week we will be discussing Dining at the Disney Resorts. I myself have not eaten at any of the resorts, but I have heard amazing things about the restaurants the Resorts have to offer. Let's start with the quick service restaurants. Most of the quick service at the resorts are cafeteria type restaurants, but they are still special. Here are the favorites.

1. Contempo Cafe- This restaurant is located at Disney's Contemporary Resort, which is in the Magic Kingdom area. Come here for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Try some oatmeal, eggs, French toast, bakery items, burgers, sandwiches, flatbreads, pasta entrées and more. Grab and go food is also available if you want to eat on the run. Don't forget to wave at people on the monorail as the ride by. Also order your meals on a screen and then wait for your food to be brought out to you. Amazing right?

2. Captain Cooks- This restaurant is located at  Disney's Polynesian Village Resort which is also in the Magic Kingdom resort area. Try a Mickey Waffle or banana-stuffed Tonga Toast for breakfast. For lunch and dinner try a variety of sandwiches, salads, flatbreads, even beer and wine. Did I mention they are open 24/7?

3. Landscape of Flavors-  This restaurant is located at Disney's Art of Animation Resort which is in the Wide World of Sports resort area. Food here is inspired by classic American fare including build-your-own burgers, pizza, salad and an array of specialty beverages. For breakfast try some french toast or a specialty platter or even a make-your-own omelette. For dinner have some fish, chicken, ribs and more. Kids options available at all meals.

Next we are going to check out the table service and signature restaurants.

1.  Jiko - The Cooking Place- This restaurant is located in the Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge which is in the Animal Kingdom resort area. They offer a blend of traditional African, Indian and Mediterranean cuisine. The menu changes seasonally but includes flatbreads, filet mignon, and more including options for the kiddos. There is even wine tasting offered. There are twin wood-burning ovens whose light mimics an African sunset. There is a dress code at this restaurant. Reservations are recommended.

2. Sanaa- This restaurant is located in the Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village which is also located in the Animal Kingdom resort area. This restaurant mixes African cooking with Indian flavors. For breakfast they are a casual quick serve restaurant with waffles, sausage, bacon, eggs and more to help you get your day started. Start your lunch or dinner with Indian-style bread service with 9 accompaniments, from sweet mango chutney to spicy red chile sambal. Then go for a meat, seafood, or vegetarian entree. You can try some wine from South Africa, beer from India or Kenya, and specialty cocktails like the Malawi Mango Margarita. Watch the African animals as you dine.

3. California Grill- This is a big talked about restaurant located at the Disney's Contemporary Resort in the Magic Kingdom resort area. They offer American cuisine, seafood, and sushi. As you eat take in the sights of Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom park as the restaurant is located on the 15th floor. Guests of age can choose from over 300 wines!!! They also offer one of the best fireworks dining experiences and if you dine before the fireworks just bring your receipt back for reentry to watch and enjoy.

Now for many kids favorites, the Character Dining. The resorts have some of the most fun Character dining experiences.

1. 1900 Park Fare- This very talked about restaurant is located at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in the magic kingdom resort area. Join Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, The Mad Hatter, Tigger, and Winnie the Pooh for a Supercalifragilistic Breakfast. Enjoy Mickey waffles, pancakes, custom-made omelettes and more. Another to to check out is the Wonderland Tea Party. Kids from 4-12 are invited for an hour of games, stories and cupcakes. You must make reservations for this. For dinner join Cinderella and Prince Charming for an amazing dinner buffet. The buffet has foods from many "kingdoms" including seafood, salad, pasta and beef specialties. Reservations are highly recommended.

2. Chef Mickey's- This is another restaurant located at  Disney's Contemporary Resort in the Magic Kingdom resort area. Meet Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Donald Duck, and Goofy at this fun buffet. Watch the monorail flying by and maybe enjoy the characters leading diners in song and dance. Enjoy an American fare buffet for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Breakfast features  favorites like mini-Mickey waffles, cheesy potato casserole, fresh fruit, bacon and pancakes. For dinner try shrimp, chicken, mussels, a carving station and more. There is also a sundae bar for dessert. Reservations are highly recommended.

During dinner join in coconut races, Hula dancing and more.  Reservations are highly recommended.

Christmas Traditions

I am sure most of us have traditions we normally do for Christmas. We usually put the tree up the day after Thanksgiving. For our Christmas cards we put in the picture of the kids with Santa, or just use the picture as a card. Our favorite place to go to get pictures with Santa is Bass Pro. The pictures are free, the Santa is amazing so friendly and great with the kids, and they always have fun activities to do.

One of our favorite things to do is take one night, drive around and look at all the lights. Some are lightly decorated and beautiful and others are very extravagant It reminds me of when I was younger and the one year we went to Florida for Christmas. We had family there that we went to visit and with the nicer weather they could really decorate. There was one street where all the houses were majorly decorated. They had lights, blow-ups, villages, some even had the garages and backyards decorated where you could walk through and look. It was truly amazing. I have been told they don't decorate like they used to, which I know seems to be true here in Ohio as well. Sadly we don't have a lot of yard to go crazy decorating, but we do have decorations and our tree.
Now for Christmas Eve we normally go to my one grandma on my dads side and celebrate with them. We also sometimes go to hubby's grandparents house. With all the craziness we try to squeeze in a church service as well. Then we gotta get home and get the kids in bed so that I can finish wrapping everything and get it all under the tree and fill the stockings. This year I was smart and each kid has their own character wrapping paper so I am not looking at each gift and name trying to figure out who's is who's. I like to separate each kids gifts into their own piles under and around the tree.

Now on Christmas morning we wake up, everyone gets showers and stuff first. The we open stockings first and then open all the gifts. Once everything is opened, they normally have a little time to check out everything they just got. After a few we head to my grandma's on my moms side to celebrate with them. We open all the gifts which there is usually a TON and we have a delicious Christmas dinner.

I love getting to spend so much time with family and love seeing the smiles on my kids faces. This really is the best time of the year. What traditions do you and your family have? Are there any you don't do that you wish you did or would like to start?

Orientation for Work

If you haven't yet then check out this post on me getting a new job. Wednesday I had my orientation for my new job. I am going to be a resident caregiver at an assisted living facility. I am very excited for this opportunity. I had a very busy day. Mind you I haven't worked in going on 8 years, being at work from 730am until 4pm was a very long day for me. I also had to get step one of the TB test.  We went over SO much information. Talked about HIPPA, all the benefits the company offers, all of the safety precautions and what to do in emergencies and more. My brain felt like it was ready to explode with all the information. We even took a tour of the facility, which is a great facility. They are part of HCR ManorCare which is a nationwide company. The people are amazing, has good benefits, and so far the residents seem friendly for the most part. I am very excited to be working for this company and can't wait to get on the floor working. If you want to get into healthcare check them out as they have around 600 facilities throughout the United States with many position types available.  You can search available opportunities here.

As you are reading this post, if reading it the day it was posted, I will be doing my In service training which is all the computer training and tests that we have to do before we can work on the floors. I will also be getting my TB test read. I do not anticipate any problems with this as I had to do the TB test in high school when I volunteered at a hospital and it came back negative. I will also be getting my full schedule and finding out when I get to start actually working.

The first week or so I will be training alongside a veteran caregiver learning everything I should know about my position. This feels so wonderful. When I got home from orientation Wednesday I tried on my scrubs and my husband said I had the biggest smile on my face. I am so happy and it shows. Just wearing the scrubs made me feel really special and happy. I will keep you guys updated on how everything is going.

Favorite Places to eat at Disney Springs

This week we are going to look at the restaurants at Disney Springs, or as most know it Downtown Disney.

Disney Springs is a very busy place with lots of shops and restaurants and entertainment. There is a little of everything here. Here are the favorite quick service restaurants.

1. Earl of Sandwich- This seems to be a top favorite of Disney lovers and it is one of my favorites as well. I went here for the first time on my last trip and the prices are great and the food is AMAZING!! I plan on visiting on more trips as it was this good. As the name suggests the restaurant serves sandwiches (both hot and cold) as well as soups, wraps and desserts. It is located in the Marketplace of Disney Springs close to the Carousel and Once Upon a Toy.

2. Blaze Pizza- I have not been here myself, but it seems to be a big favorite. This is located in Town Center of Disney Springs close to the Disney Springs Welcome Center. They have a build your own pizza as well as their signature pizzas like BBQ Chkn and White Top. If you are in the mood for pizza this is the place to go.

3. Wolfgang Puck Express-  Again I have not been here, but I have heard wonderful things. Their pizza is in competition with Blaze Pizza. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. For breakfast check out breakfast pizzas, omelettes, waffles, and more. For lunch and dinner check out soup, salad, sandwiches, pizzas, and pastas as well as a few favorites such as chicken and salmon. Kids meals are available. Located in the Marketplace next to Disney's Days of Christmas shop and close to the Carousel. You can sit inside or outside.

Now we are going to check out the favorites of table service, for those who want to sit down and spend a little more time on their meals.

1. House of Blues- This is a very popular and well known restaurant and entertainment venue. They feature a mix of southern and global cuisine. They have daily drink specials from 3:00 to 5:00 PM and a soulful Sunday brunch. There is so much food to choose from, it'll be hard to choose. It is all delicious. There is something for everyone, from pork, sandwiches, and jambalaya, to tacos, pasta, and chicken. There are even kids meals available. Located on the Westside.

2. T-REX- This as you could guess, is a themed restaurant designed to look like you are in a prehistoric world. There are themed rooms designed to different landscapes including a color changing ice cavern. You could even eat in the midsection of a triceratops!! Inside is a hands on area where you can dig for fossils, as well as a shop where you can Build-A-Dino. Reservations are highly recommended. I have heard you must get the nachos as an appetizer as they are so delicious and can feed 2. For your main meal choose from pastas, seafood, sandwiches, chicken, or steak. Plenty of kids options available. Located in the Marketplace.

3. The Boathouse- This restaurant is located on the Landing and is home to retro dream boats, from vintage American Amphicars to romantic Italian Water Taxis. They offer guests private boat tours and entertainment. Try some seafood, steak, pork chops, and even a kids menu.

With so much shopping, you might just want to stop for a little snack. Here are the favorites to stop for a small bite to eat.

1. Ghirardelli® Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop-  If you have tried Ghirardelli Chocolate, then you are going to LOVE their ice cream. It is the best ice cream I have ever tasted. Even better is if you get some with chocolate chips it is Ghirardelli Chocolate!! Try one of their sundaes or floats or just some scoops. The servings are HUGE and there are quite a few toppings to choose from as well. Also grab an espresso drink or a brownie or cookie. Eat inside or grab it and go.

2. Amorette's Patisserie- Pastry shop with Ã©clairs, New York-style cheesecake, cookies, gluten-free macarons and signature cakes, which you can watch chefs decorate. You can even take a 90 minute class to to a cake decorating experience for an extra cost.

I hope this list helps you to find a good place to eat the next time you find yourself at Disney Springs.
