Epilepsy Awareness Month

November is Epilepsy Awareness Month. This month is a big one for me because my husband and both of my sons have Epilepsy. I want to raise a LOT of awareness this year. If you want to know about Epilepsy such as what it is, different types of seizures and more you can read one of my posts all about that:

There is so much that can be taught about Epilepsy. No 2 people with Epilepsy are alike. People need to be taught what is a seizure and what isn't and what should and shouldn't be done in the case of a seizure. Did you know that Epilepsy is the 4th most common neurological disease in the nation? In fact, 1 in 26 people will be diagnosed with epilepsy at some point in their lifetime. Sadly many pass away every year from Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP), which is why it is important to try to keep seizures under control and to know proper first aid. 1 in 150 people who have uncontrolled seizures dies from sudden unexpected death in epilepsy.

If you want to use social media and help spread awareness use #EpilepsyAwarenessMonth. Also #MyEpilepsyHero invites people impacted by epilepsy to share individuals that made a positive difference in their lives through support or inspiration. These heroes can be a family member, healthcare provider, mentor, or friend. Sunovion will donate $1 to the Epilepsy Foundation for every video or photo posted (publicly) on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #MyEpilepsyHero. Please help and spread the word.

There are many ways you can get involved.
