Half way there!!

3....we are 3 weeks into our wait for genetics testing results and we have 3 weeks to go!! These 3 weeks have actually gone by pretty fast, but at the same time 3 weeks seems so long to still have to wait.
This week we actually have no appointments. The girls are going to Vacation Bible school this week which they are so happy and excited. Dad is working today and tomorrow, maybe Thursday. Other than that this is a pretty slow week so not much to keep my mind off of things this week. Yesterday me and a family member who are trying to get in shape decided to get brave and we went on a 8 mile long walk!!
Next week we have a few appointments on the 1st Bella has her 7 year check up. On the 3 Kaya has her full spinal MRI to make sure she doesn't have any problems with her scoliosis or a tethered cord or anything. We are really hoping for good results from that. The following week she will follow up with her neurosurgeon.
Still also waiting on my moms birth certificate it should be here within the next week. We are quite anxious for it. Hoping it comes soon and can lead us somewhere.

1 week down 5-7 to go

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days we had a very busy weekend. Been keeping my mind off the crazy waiting. Really made the time fly. I took the kids to the park Friday, saturday we just had a little cookout at home after going to a flea market and just shopping around town. Sunday we helped friends move which is kinda sad but I am happy for them. Today was a pretty boring day up until I had to take Silas to the hospital for a bleeding ear. He had tubes in and one fell out like 2 months ago and as of like a week or so ago the other looked like it was ready to fall out. Well I guess it fell out and immediately he got a severe ear infection. They said his ear was so filled with blood and pus they couldn't see anything and couldn't see if the tube was still there or not. They put him on 2 antibiotics, 1 oral 1 drops. If he doesn't start improving in a few days we have to go see the dr, otherwise supposed to see the dr in 2 weeks to make sure everything is all healed and make sure his ear is ok.
But yes we are already 1 week into the wait. The week actually went pretty fast. This next week we have 2 appointments on the same day, other than that not much going on this week. Louie follows up with plastic surgery to follow up from his hair follicle tumor removal and Silas sees the developmental pediatrician all on Thursday. Hubby works Wednesday. Trying to figure out what to do with the rest of the week. That's about it for now will fill everyone in after we have our appointments Thursday. I will post some facts about hair follicle tumors and ear infections and tubes.
Ear tubes facts Recurrent ear infections may require insertion of ear tubes. Ear tube placement involves a tiny incision in the ear drum. The surgery to place tubes is called a myringotomy. The tubes remain in place for six months to several years. Eventually, they fall out of the ear. Less common conditions that may call for the placement of ear tubes are malformation of the ear drum or Eustachian tube, Down's syndrome, cleft palate, and barotrauma (middle ear injury caused by a reduction of air pressure)
Ear infection Facts Ear Infections Can Be Confused With Teething Antibiotics Are Not Always the Answer-About 60 percent of ear infections are believed to be bacterial; the other 40 percent are sparked by viruses and can't be cured by antibiotics. If Your Child Has Repeated Bouts, See A Specialist- typically when they have had three infections in six months or four within a year Ear Infections Can Happen Even With Tubes Some factors that make your child more prone to getting ear infections are being male , living with more than one sibling , and having a family history of ear infections.
Pilomatricoma is a benign skin lesion thought to be derived from the matrix of hair follicles. It is relatively rare and most commonly present in young children and adolescents. Most pilomatricomas present as a solitary, firm, skin colored papule or nodule located on the head, neck, and upper extremities. There can be a slight discoloration of the area. Most lesions are asymptomatic. Although solitary lesions are most common, multiple pilomatricomas can be seen with certain genetic disorders such as Gardner’s syndrome, myotonic dystrophy, and Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome.

Day 3 and Epilepsy

Hello everyone hoping you had a good Thursday. Ours was pretty boring overall. My husband who has epilepsy like both boys hadn't seen a neurologist or been on medicine since he was a child. Well he finally got into a neurologist and din't have the best experience. So this doctor who has never seen my husband before knows no history other than what my husband and I tell him before doing any sorts of tests or anything started him on seizure medicine again but told him as soon as it's legal he will give him the marijuana card. Asked if he worked and told him he shouldn't that he should get on social security. Told him don't drive and then when he told him about his headaches and troubles breathing and swallowing and stuff and the family history of chiari he told him that chiari isn't bad that everyone has some sort of chiari. We are like what is wrong with this guy? Our son didn't have brain surgery at 11 months old because Chiari isn't a big deal. So now we are on the search for a new neurologist for him as well as hopefully a neurosurgeon. We also need to get him in to a sleep dr because he is having some sort of issues breathing, or lack thereof when he is sleeping. He had a really bad episode last night that was very scary. So hopefully we get that figured out soon. Other than that the day was pretty uneventful and boring. In the MyChart mine, Silas and my husbands test say they came back but the full report will be given when Louie's come back I guess since we are just the ones to check after they get all his information.
So tonight I am going to talk about Epilepsy. First off what is Epilepsy? Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that can affect both sexes, and people of all ages and races. It is characterized by unpredictable seizures, but can involve other health problems. There are also different syndromes associated with Epilepsy. Epilepsy is a spectrum condition with a wide range of seizure types and control varying from person-to-person. Having seizures and epilepsy also can also affect one's safety, relationships, work, driving and so much more. How epilepsy is perceived or how people are treated often is a bigger problem than the seizures.
There are many types of seizures. I am not going to go into great detail but if you want to know more you can check out my post where I wrote all about it: http://crazymommy89.blogspot.com/2014/07/all-about-epilepsy-and-seizures.html The main type everyone thinks of is a grand mal seizure. This is the shaking and jerking seizure that everyone thinks of. This is only 1 type though. There are also petite mal which are also called absence seizures. These are basically staring spells. There are also myoclonic, tonic-clonic, tonic, clonic, and atonic.
What are the symptoms of Epilepsy? Obviously seizures are the biggest and main symptom, but people may also experience feinting, fatigue, rhythmic muscle contractions or muscle spasms, falling, aura or pins and needles, amnesia, anxiety, depression, headache, sleepiness, staring spells, or temporary paralysis after a seizure.
Know your facts and first aid. Many people don't know what to do and what not to do if they are with someone who experiences a seizure.
Thank you for reading tonight and stay tuned for tomorrow, day 4.
